"Home away from home!" Reviewed May 20, 2013
My husband and I initially decided to stay at Surfsong because of the great reviews on TripAdvisor. It also was an added bonus when we learned they were running a special that included free Seaborne Air flights from San Juan to Beef Island. Their stellar customer service begins from the moment you book with them.
Surfsong made sure to have our flight itinerary so they can arrange to have us picked up at the airport. The ride from the airport to the property is literally one minute long. Surfsong is technically on Beef Island and not Tortola, but downtown Tortola is only a 10 minute drive away. When we got to the property, Cate made sure we were checked in properly. She had already pre-arranged the rental car company to drop the car off at Surfsong, she arranged for our dinner that night at Surfsong and tended to anything we needed. The dinner that night was awesome! The best lamb chops I ever had and Chef Kellen is exceptional!
Our room was the Treeshouse suite, which is a little, cozy villa. The size of the room fit our needs perfectly for our 4 night stay. The room and bathrooms were very clean, the American king size bed was comfortable, the a/c worked perfectly, and the room had a 27 inch LCD tv with DVD player and some cable channels. The room also has a stovetop, a small fridge and microwave oven. There was also a small balcony with a grill which we did not use, but is great for someone who wants to bbq their own meal one night.
Martina, Cate, and Simon went out of their way to make sure everything was taken care of. They gave us dinner recommendations and made the reservations, told us exactly how to get to Virgin Gorda on the ferry and arranged for Simon the taxi driver to pick us up when we arrived there, and generally assisted in any way we needed them to.
Dougie the taxi driver on Tortola will take you anywhere on a moments notice. The Long Bay Beach next to Surfsong (not to be confused with the other Long Bay beach) is one of the best beaches my husband and I have ever been to and we've been to tons of beaches all over the world. The beach directly connected to Surfsong is good too, very quiet and peaceful.
Bottom line, our stay at Surfsong was awesome and I would recommend anyone considering going to Tortola to stay there as well. We are looking forward to our next trip to BVI one day and we would definitely stay at Surfsong again!
