Review
Review from TripAdvisor, January 2012
My wife and I visited Surfsong Villa Resort in January. We had a very good stay. The Resort deserves it's good ratings. The Villa we stayed in was a short 15 metres from the Caribbean, with a view to the southwest. Along with the exceptional Villa and the lapping of the waves upon
shore very nearby, it made for an incredible stay. The facilities, service and the breakfast all
very good. Simon was the only Management attending to customers during our visit and he
was quite attentive, and was able to point us in the right direction for all of tourist needs. The service staff, also very good.
The shoreline immediately in front of the Villas is rocky with broken coral and stones. There is a small beach only 50 metres from the Resort, but there are a number of beautiful beaches nearby on Tortola, some very close. Long Bay beach on Beef Island, just northwest of the Airport (EIA) was quite nice, and quiet. I saw a small octopus while snorkelling there. If you are a snorkeler or diver, it was my experience that much of the coral surrounding the island was dead or dying. Nevertheless, the sea life was quite abundant. We really did see millions of fish. On the very west end of Tortola is another Long Bay where I saw a small ray.
Brewer's Bay is where the cruise ships passengers seem to flock to; it was there at the west end of the bay where I swam seemingly in a blizzard of small fish. Millions upon millions. And through them I came upon two tarpons, one over 5 feet long. Very impressive. Josiah beach, and yet another Long Beach were probably the two nicest beaches that we 'discovered'. The Long Beach (by the the former Lambert Beach Resort) is probably the nicest, but is fraught with an riptide, and not suitable for all.
Trellis Bay is also an area we highly recommend to visit, and is only 1.5 km east of the Resort. A little bohemian, with art shops, cafes, the airport, restaurants, and the ferry docks to points east. The Last Resort is a restaurant on a small cay in Trellis Bay, that we highly recommend both for it's food, service, and mostly, for the island dining experience. We had
a tomato based seafood melange that was excellent.
Tortola and Surfsong Villa are excellent vacation idea for families, couples, and seniors in search of warmth, blue seas, and a friendly, laid-back island experience.
